On-Going Meal Events

Mug Mornings

Every Monday morning muffins and coffee are provided, and  every Friday morning bagels and coffee will be available in the Munford Gathering Place from 7:30 to 9:00 am.  Bring your own mug, and share a cup of joy with someone new!

Darjeeling Tea

Need an afternoon snack or study break? Come to the MGP for our weekly tea time on Thursday afternoons from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. Grab a plate, and run to your discussion section!

Petit Dejeuner

Every Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:00 am, we provide a popular Continental breakfast in the "Gathering Place" of Mary Munford with a French flair.  Coffee, tea, juice, fresh bread and croissants are provided. These breakfasts emphasize eating local, seasonal, and organic food.

Conversazione Grande Series

Once a month, IRC students are invited to dine at neighboring Alumni Hall with fellow residents, IRC, and U.Va. faculty. Dinners feature student speakers with a small reception beforehand for open conversation and questions. Dress is business casual, and doors close at exactly 6:30 pm. Please be punctual.

Special Occassions

Thanksgiving? Mardi Gras? Chinese New Year? The IRC is the place to be!

The IRC Student Council hosts special events throughout the year, including a formal Valentine's Day Dinner in the Dome Room of the Rotunda. Cultural groups also frequent the IRC, celebrating their traditions with performances and diverse cuisines. Additionally, Council sponsors informal and relaxed events. You name it: BBQs, ice cream socials, s'mores, tea times, and tailgates.

Exam Week Study Breaks

Give me your tired, your poor, your hungry masses yearning to eat! Frankly, we all need a break, especially during finals.

During exams, the IRC provides an abundance of sandwiches, coffee, tea, and special pick-me-ups, such as a Sweet & Spicy desert bar and late night pizzas. Petit Déjeuner is offered every morning. There will be no need to leave your books, your studies, your life. Your room becomes your cave of exertion and frustration. So hibernation isn't just for mammals after all.... We hope to brighten your day. Enjoy, and may the curve be ever in your favor.

Food for Thought

Over the course of the semester, you have the opportunity to share dinner with an IRC Community Fellow or invited guest...right here within the IRC!  Director of Studies Phoebe Crisman is happy to work with you if you want to invite a professor to dinner!

Morea Evenings

Once a month, Principal Bailey and his wife, Elaine, open their home to IRC residents.  Students are invited to drop by for a visit and dessert!

Lunch with Fellows

Students are invited to share lunch with IRC Fellows at the Garden Room on the West Range.  If you want to share lunch with an Morea, Professorial, or Community fellow, please let Phoebe Crisman know who to invite.
