Welcome To Wednesday

Every Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30 am, we provide a popular breakfast in the "Gathering Place" of Mary Munford.  Coffee, tea,  and some sort of breakfast - it might be a breakfast sandwich, or Duck Donuts or pastries from Great Harvest will be available.

Conversazione Grande Series

Several times throughout the year IRC students are invited to dine  with fellow residents, IRC, and U.Va. faculty. Dinners feature student speakers with a small reception beforehand for open conversation and questions. Dress is business casual, and doors close at  6:30 pm. Recently, the IRC has incorporated performances by local groups into the dinners.  Performances by The Blue Ridge Irish School, Beleza and Chiamba were recenlty featured.

Special Occasions

Thanksgiving? Mardi Gras? Chinese New Year? The IRC is the place to be!

The IRC Student Council hosts special events throughout the year, including  Pop Up Events with bubble tea, pancakes, etc. Cultural groups also frequent the IRC, celebrating their traditions with performances and diverse cuisines. Additionally, Council sponsors informal and relaxed events. You name it: BBQs, ice cream socials, s'mores, tea times, and tailgates.

Exam Week Study Breaks

Give me your tired, your poor, your hungry masses yearning to eat! Frankly, we all need a break, especially during finals.

During exams, the IRC provides an abundance of sandwiches, coffee, tea, and special pick-me-ups, such as a Sweet & Spicy desert bar and late night pizzas.  There will be no need to leave your books, your studies, your life. Your room becomes your cave of exertion and frustration. So hibernation isn't just for mammals after all.... We hope to brighten your day. Enjoy, and may the curve be ever in your favor.

Food for Thought

Over the course of the semester, you have the opportunity to share dinner with an IRC Community Fellow or invited guest...right here within the IRC!  Director of Studies David Edmunds is happy to work with you if you want to invite a professor to dinner!

Morea Evenings

Occasionally throughout the semester  Principal Phoebe Crisman and Director of Studies David Edmunds will host Morea Evenings.  Students are invited to drop by for a visit and  food! Morea Evenings this year will most likely be outside in the yard of Morea House.

 Lunch with Fellows

Students are invited to share lunch with IRC Fellows.  If you want to share lunch with a Morea, Professorial, or Community fellow, please let Phoebe Crisman know who to invite.

Laissez Lire

Have you read a good book lately?  Would you like to discuss it over a nice meal?  Phoebe Crisman hosts several Laissez Lire dinners at Little Morea House throughout the semester.  Please contact her if you would like to suggest a book.

Out and About

Join  Phoebe Crisman and David Edmunds for outings in Charlottesville and beyond.  Concerts at Cabell Hall, plays at Blackfriars Playhouse, movies, museums, local art installations, UVA basketball games at The Paramount Theater and more!

The Week That Was

Join fellow students for snacks and lively discussion around current events.  Every Friday at 4:00 in the "fishbowl" conference room.

Local Trips

IRC students have visited Monticello, Montpelier, Luray Caverns , Cherry Blossom Festival, and many other places.  In the fall of 2019 IRC residents went to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Want to go somewhere?  Reach out to IRC Council and Staff with your ideas.
