Bio
Teri is passionate about creating a better world through leadership, community-based engagement, and storytelling. She taught middle-school English for 8 years before founding Better World Betty (BWB) in 2008. BWB is a local organization dedicated to providing easy, fun, and meaningful sustainability tips for the Charlottesville community. BWB tips include tips for recycling right and being a conscious consumer. Teri also developed and led the first corporate sustainability challenge in Central Virginia, the Charlottesville Area Better Business Challenge. After serving as the Communications Manager at the local water and recycling/solid waste provider (Rivanna Water and Sewer & Solid Waste Authority), she helped launch and grow the Community Climate Collaborative in 2017 that aims to elevate climate action, leadership, and equitable local policy. Teri loves being in the mountains, visiting amazing old growth forests here in Virginia, spending quality time with her family, and dancing. Her new endeavor is the study of embodied leadership to help impact makers recharge and thrive in a changing world.
